The Houk International Exhibit contains distinctive global puppets from the archives of the late Diane Houk. Diane was the founder and Executive Director of PAI and passed away in 2014.
In her travels with her construction engineer husband, Diane lived in such diverse places as Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, Iraq, Egypt, Nigeria, and England. Puppets were great family cultural events in many of the countries. While her husband worked, Diane indulged in her passion for native art and customs of each region.
Her eye for the unusual drew her to acquire samples of puppet history and legends wherever she visited. Her collection draws from over 20 countries. The PAI housed exhibit offers a captivating look at the ancient art of puppetry and a nod to Diane’s spirit as a true citizen of the world.
